Celebrating “She-roes” on International Women’s Day on 8th March, 2017

A move that began with women asserting their rights as workers on par with men, has led to a movement that celebrates women across different spheres of life, her accomplishments and significance in the annals of history. International Women’s Day (IWD), celebrated for more than half a century has inspired and raised a toast to women who break barriers and redefine roles. The Eighth of March which was always about giving women equal rights, also acknowledges their immense contribution in giving back to home and society.

Across the world, women give constantly – to home, families, communities and countries.  A woman caring for her children; a woman striving to excel in the private sector; a woman partnering with her neighbours to make streets safer; a woman running for office to improve her country – all have something to give. The more our societies empower women, the more we will receive in return.

While the world is at the threshold of this change, letting women take their rightful place in society and at work, women should also take the initiative to ensure they are doing everything they can to breakout of their own inhibitions and mind-sets. Women by their very nature are multi-taskers and lead from their head and heart. These very qualities can be empowering in leadership roles across industries. With EQ considered more significant than IQ especially in business, women have a natural flair to make businesses relatable without being very impersonal. We always say, it takes a women to make a house a home, and this same truth applies to business as well. Their emotional nature brings connect to organisations, that enhances an inclusive culture.

Women are considered incapable at physical tasks, yet there is an increasing number of women taking up blue collared jobs like driving trucks and buses.

To be successful in business, women don’t have to fit in to certain mould created in past. They should confidently bring their own perspectives, calmness and strength to any job they do. A successful business and growth is derived from the synergies that exist between both the sexes. Whether at home or office, men have to understand that by joining hands with them great partnerships are formed.

Having established CareClean, an entity of Megamorph Marketing Pvt Ltd, India’s first & only certified Green Company by GC Mark, Germany & DQS, my entrepreneurial journey has been one of learning and empowerment. PM Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ has been our guiding force and towards this end, we produce affordable and effective green cleaning solutions with minimal environmental impact that will change home cleaning solutions.

My mother has been a huge inspiration in my journey. Watching her juggle several roles at home and work, her passion and struggle, her ‘never say die’ attitude has helped me imbibe her values and respect for her work. Although there has been a learning curve, it makes me immensely proud to see how far we’ve come and the wonderful work we do in giving women products that can empower them.

Women are pushing through all kinds of barriers. We as women have to become each other’s support system, believe and help each other achieve all that we set out to do.
